What’s Wrong With Fish Oil: Part2

Professor Peskin presents the science of why fish oil supplement recommendations are badly misleading and dangerous to your health. While fish oil may make a difference initially with someone who is EFA deficient, long-term usage can cause damage and make you ill. Please visit BrianPeskin.com for full medical references to everything he covers in the video.

For more info on the studies and items mentioned in this video visit brianpeskin(dot)com and beyondfishoil(dot)com.

    Your work is absolutely brilliant…
    Great job.

Could you post either links to the studies or the study references to the studies?

This would really help a great deal.
    Thanks for this video!

Thank you for bringing this information forward. I listened to you on One Radio Network and actually this is the first time I had heard of the negatives associated with Fish Omega 3′s. I am forever researching nutrition, wellness, immune functions and want to make my own educated choices based on everything I have researched. I am returning back to your website to read it over more closely. It takes guts to bring to light adverse information. Thanks.

  4. ProfessorNutrition says:

bottom line is fish oil is supposed to prevent heart attacks and cardiovascular disease, and in controlled experiments (like Harvard Medical did back in 1995) it fails. You need to know that. With the proper use of statistics, variations in diet among controls and testing groups are allowed for. Read the book, The Hidden Story of Cancer so you can learn all about experiments that conclusively show reduction of cancer and cardiovascular disease and the science why these results occur. Thanks B

I feel there’s a lot more information to look at here then just people given fish oil vs. people given a placebo. Diet is extremely important and varies greatly from one person to the next. Were all people involved in this experiment following the same diet? Following the same exercise routines? Smokers or non-smokers? Have there been trials done that have shown that supplementing with parent omega 6 and parent omega 3 reduce cardiovascular events, cancers, or strokes?

  6. ProfessorNutrition says:

Based on physiology and biochemistry, there is no stronger anti-inflammatory than PGE1, which is made from parent omega-6. I follow the science of physiology wherever it may lead. Pharmacological overdosing of derivatives is extremely harmful, period.

  7. PROCESSOR302 says:

A recent research paper (2009) used microarrays to study fish oils pathways. They found that anti-inflammatory pathways were activated. So yes, modern technology is starting to show that these oils are beneficial.

Prof Peskin is pushing parent essential oils LA and LNA and not the derivatives EPA and DHA (omega 3). Hence the reason he is saying the derivatives are dangerous.

  8. LowCarbJC says:

Is it possible to provide a link to the actual studies ? I have to agree with Processor302 – there are way to many recent peer reviewed lab studies showing the benefits of Fish oil. Some answers I would like to get from these studies he talks about is : Do we know if the fish was grain fed or from the wild, what part of the fish body did they take the oil from etc ?

  9. ProfessorNutrition says:

Eating fish is far different from consuming highly concentrated fish oil supplements.

  10. Catherine8here says:

how about eating oily fish? Many tribes men eat fish and eskimos but do not get diabettes etc.

  11. sovietonionnyc says:

Thank you. You look honest. I knew this fish oil was all bullshit! Fuck Whole Foods and all their overpriced bullshit food. Carlson’s fish oil goes for $23.00 a liter. And I remember about 2 years ago it was $14.00.

  12. PROCESSOR302 says:

Again compares humans to small rodents LOL. He quotes a 1990 paper as evidence. Science has changed greatly sense 20 years ago.

At least he talks about a 2006 paper this time. But they only included data up to the year 2002. So still no real up to date information is given!

any thing the England people put they hands on is all for the benefit of bankers.

  17. user336 says:

Everyone has been told that fish oil, commonly called omega-3, is good for your health. This has now been proven wrong. Fish oil consists only of an inferior and potentially harmful form of omega-3s called “derivatives.” Omega-3 derivatives are NOT essential EFAs

So where does this broken down cholesteral go that is in your blood stream after taking this oil ?

  19. Jandsproduction says:

I love this. Thanks for showing us the difference. As I’m learning how to be more healthy is difficult to know which brands are better then others. So thanks for sharing.

  20. FrancisIIIBibeau says:

    lame!!!!!!!!

  21. mysales100 says:

    this is very good

  22. mysales100 says:

3 capsules, since the concentration of omega 3 in “seaven seas” is 3 x lesser than in the “artic sea”

  23. mysales100 says:

but the concentration of this specific component in the most highstreet brands is sooo low that they do not do anything or much more slower than the artic sea, we could have put 10 capsules in it, it would not really have done something or little, than it comes from the most toxic organ of the body (the liver) you dont eat fish liver isn it?

  24. mysales100 says:

ok, here i am with the answer
omega 3, 6, 9 are the essential components for the cel double layer membranes
specially for nerve and brain cells
but actually for all cells, also the skin.
look at eskimo’s who eat daily fish
we should take an example from them.
cod liver oil does something at the end its the omega 3 inside,

  25. tagagloria says:

One last question, why did you use 3 capsules in the 1st kebab box while just 1 capsule on the second box? Thanks for this video, I really learned something. =) I was looking for info whether Omega 3,6,9 really helps in making the skin smooth and the hair grow thicker and fuller. I’ve heard thought that cod-liver-oil works very well on dogs per my chemistry professor. Hope to see your response^^

  26. tagagloria says:

Wow! That’s cool! =) So that means, cod-liver-oil does not really do anything in the human body esp. with the cholesterol in it? And a combination of Omega 3,6,9 in one capsule melts away specific amount of cholesterol level? …But how about the good cholesterol? Does it go with the bad ones when had a direct contact with Omega 3,6,9 as shown in the video?
